Opale: Biological start-up begins

Now that the construction work on the biomethane plant in Sangatte, France, has been completed, the commissioning of the plant technology is beginning. Biological activation is taking place at the same time. Here, the fermenter is continuously filled with substrate and slowly heated to the necessary process temperature. The aim is to create an ideal environment for the bacterial cultures and thus ensure an optimal fermentation process in the fermenter. At the biogas plant in Opale, the biogas produced by the bacteria is upgraded to biomethane directly on site and fed into the local gas grid.
